Question:
I am currently an elementary teacher in Anchorage,
Alaska with 5.75 years of experience. I also will have
completed my Master's in Early Childhood Education (infancy-
age 8) by May '97.
I would like to relocate to what we refer to as the
"Lower 48", but am getting dismal information about my
chances of getting a contract with a district, especially
since I will have my M.ED and will "cost" districts more
than a beginning teacher.
I already have Wyoming certification and am focusing
on that state for my new home (I grew up in Montana). Is
there anyone out there who has been in my position of
trying to get hired who would be willing to share information
about what worked and what didn't? I would especially love
to hear from teachers in Wyoming...I really want the "REAL"
information from the ranks...not those pesky rumors that
are so prevalent in our profession!
