Question:
The Vanderbilt Men's basketball coach interviewed for the South
Carolina coaching job today. The package is reportedly a five year
$503 000 per year deal. Eddie Fogler is going to talk with the
Vanderbilt Athletic Director tomorrow according to reports in
tonight's local Newscasts. Eddie Fogler is currently making upwards
of 300 000 per year.
The local papers are questioning whether Vandy is committed to
keep a top notch coach like Fogler. Being a Vandy grad I would be
crashed if the administration lets Fogler go. More News as it becomes
available.
The coach of Western Kentucky is also in the running for the
same job. I do not know what he is being offered. The reports I have
seen say he is currently making about 160 000. It is reported that
Western Kentucky is putting together a new package for him. His
current contract is for four years and he signed it last year.
Answer:
Just thought of something. How common is it for a coach to jump ship
to another school WITHIN THE SAME CONFERENCE? Can't think of an
example off of the top of my head (assistants going to be coaches at
another school in the conference don't count).
Also, looking at the names popping (or popped) up, South Carolina must
want a decent program really really bad, and someone's willing to
shell out the bucks to bring a hi-profile coach in
