Question:
I was wondering if anyone here could give me some info about a
career in Canine search and rescue, or Mounted rescue ? I would like a
to look into a career with this as opposed to volunteer work (nothing
wrong with it, just looking for something I could do for a living). I
would appreciate any answers ranging from earnings to education
requirments, and possible medical training. Anyone actually have a
paying job dealing with canine and/or mounted search and rescue ? I luv
dogs, the outdoors, and being at emergency scenes (grew up in a towing
and heavy duty recovery family ), If there are jobs that pay well
enough, I would seriously consider this as a career : ) Thanks to
anyone who could help
Answer:
Sorry to say, there are very few opportunities to be paid for
this kind of work. There are people who have found a way to
make a living from it, by doing training seminars, acting as
consultants for various agencies, or ancillary businesses like
providing search gear. But they are few and every one I know of
has many, many years of unpaid experience under their belts that
make their advice worth paying for.
The closest related career training opportunities would be emergency
medicine and law enforcement.
