Question:
I am working in Washington, DC as a meeting planner and will be relocating
to Northern/Central New Jersey in the next few months. I have begun my job search,
but am finding that many companies are hesitant to respond to someone who does not
live in the area. Understandable, but very frustrating! I have been in the meeting
industry for 10 years and just recently obtained my CMP. I am looking for a senior level
position and am close enough to NYC to consider positions there, as well. It would be
great to get feedback, advice, job postings, etc. to help me with my job search -- any
information would be greatly appreciated!
Answer:
I have been trying to secure a job out of state for several months
now. Your observations are correct-companies are hesitant for many
reasons to hire people that are not in the area!
Consequently, I'm moving out of state without a job next week!
