Question:
Solich pulling out from Minnesota job
An interesting theory was brought me by a colleague of mine. He suggested
that when the Gopher's were interviewing for head coach, and Solich
withdrew his name, that perhaps Tom Osborne had given him insight into the
future.
Intriguing. Solich was high on the Minnesota list. Why would he have
withdrawn, unless something loomed on the horizon for him?
Answer:
According to reports that I have read, Solich did not withdraw from the
Minnesota job. Supposedly he was all but guaranteed the job but they had
one more interview. That interview was Glen Mason and he got the job
because of previous head coaching experience. I don't imagine that Frank
is to unhappy about that today.
