Question:
I've been in and out of 'local' trucking since 1991. My CDL and medical are current, I have a wide variety of experience, with the exception of over the road. OTR is just not for me. I recently started searching for truck driving positions via the internet. I'm getting many responses from OTR companies. That seems to be the main focus of the recruiters that I have contacted so far.

Does anyone have any ideas/pointers on narrowing my search to companies that provide local work?

Answer:
-Most local trucking companys use the Human Resource Dept. of the towns unemployment office. Many offer online service. If you want to expand your search just google... Local CDL Jobs/ enter your town or state.Good luck on the search...

-Local newspapers are best for this.

-Gasoline, and construction companies are most of the time local. You've got to hit the bricks and look. I've always said that when looking for a company to work for look and see if they have drivers that retire.
