Is it OK to job-search?

Question:
If you've applied (or are about to apply) for PR status, is it OK to register with job-search firms before actually having visa in hand? I heard somewhere that you can't look for a job in Canada until you're legally allowed to reside there?

Answer:
-I would suggest that it is v much beneficial for your case to do a job search! U are more likely to do better under the personal suitability factor.

-There is nothing barring seeking employment in Canada prior to having legal status therein. You would not, however, be entitled to employment in such a position until status is duly obtained.

- It is working without a work permit or a resident visa that you can't. But searching for a job in Canada is legal.

-Looking for a job in Canada does not require that you have a work permit. It's just that you cannot actually work until you have the papers.
