Question:
I'm a fourth year resident in Path who is attempting to prepare a
presentation on
job opportunities in pathology. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?
Answer:
- tell your audience to stay out of government work; AKA medical
examiner / coroner. They are hated and sued by many, because they mutilate
the helpless innocent dead without consent, again the will of their victims
and the victims family, and do so only by brute force or threat of brute
force and the police powers of the government. They are supposed to take an
oath to uphold the constitution and laws yet many don't even know what the
laws say.
-It is interesting to read this in relation to comments made by Lord
Rees-Mogg in "The Sovereign Individual", in which he compares governments to
monopolised criminals. That is to say, government employees can do things
that if done by any other individuals would result in serious sanctions.

further details and reviews of this book. Lord Rees-Mogg was formerly an
editor of London's The Times newspaper and has an excellent perspective of
human history. He refers to the history of the economic benefits of
violence, and explains how this has changed with changing ways of life, from
hunter-gatherers, through agriculture to the modern age on information
science. Much of "The Sovereign Individual" concerns the Internet and its
effect on the power of the nation state.
