Question:
Why is the press not covering the economy more and reporting more
import things such as President Bush and the Republican Party voting
to take away American Jobs in the middle of the worst economy in
decades.
I am talking specifically about
HR.2215, which seems innocuous on the surface. It gives the DOJ
authorization for combating terrorism, improving law enforcement,
fighting crime and drugs, and enhancing intellectual-property
protection, as well as strengthening the judiciary-all good things.
But a small section of the bill deals with "improving immigration
procedures" for visa holders, including H-1Bs supposedly brought to
this country for skills that Americans don't have. Companies sponsor
them to fill jobs they can't fill otherwise because of a "shortage of
labor".
The new legislation extends the H-1B status for aliens who file a
labor certification more than 365 days before the end of their sixth
year. The change supposedly stems from lengthy processing times at the
Department of Labor, which have reportedly lasted as long as a year in
some cases-meaning that some H-1Bs have had to leave the country
before their green-card application could be considered.
From what I understand, the stay can be extended so long as an H-1B is
employed for one year beyond the six-year term. This extension would
be renewed each year indefinitely until a decision is made on the
green card. It's not clear if H-1Bs who are laid off will have to find
another sponsoring employer.
I am not against immigration, however there is no shortage of skilled
IT workers in this country. The H-1B program is not about a perceived
skills shortage; it's about 195,000 + workers where the agencies that
control them can charge [the sponsoring employers] $150,000 or more
per year. This is a multibillion-dollar industry that Congress created
with a stroke of a pen.
In other words American's get screwed while once again the rich get
richer! The workers that do come over are treated just above slave
status and we Americans are left with no jobs.
It seems to me that with over 3.8 million Americans unemployed that we
would not want to allow non-Americans to keep American jobs.
There is absolutely no need for H-1b visas. Most workers brought over
on H-1b visas have fewer skills and are less qualified than
entry-level American IT workers let alone have the skills that our
highly skilled unemployed American workers have!!!
Many American's are getting feed up with the corruptions, lies and pay
offs. When is the Government going to start caring about American
workers and families? We are what makes this country work, but we
have to believe in our government in order for the economy to get
better and currently the Government is not giving us anything to
believe in. I realize that is mainly due to the Republican Party and
President Bush. Of course since the press seems to be owned by or at
least controlled by the Republican party we hear almost nothing about
the economy it is all about President Bush and his game of RISK I mean
playing war, no I mean give the press something to talk about other
then the fact that the Republican Party has created one of if not the
worst economy's in US history!!!
I am asking you as an American veteran to not allow them to take away
American jobs from Americans? There is no shortage of skilled IT
workers in this country. Thus, I would like to see the H-1b visa
eliminated, but at the very least we should limit the H-1b visas and
impose some form of controls that requires proof that there was no
qualified American's that could fulfill the position!! Currently
there are no checks or balance that can be done the government just
believes that the corporations are going to be fair to American
workers. Of course if the government perceives that there is an IT
shortage how about providing free Training to Americans that would
like to become skilled IT employees? How about allowing anyone that
pursues a degrees or training in IT to receive student loans and
student loan repayments, or provide tax breaks to companies that are
willing to higher and train American workers in the skills that are
needed? Why is it that our government would rather take jobs away
from Americans just because it makes a few of their friends richer
instead of investing in the American workers. Of course if someone
tried to enact any of the programs to help Americans the Republican
Party would be the first to state oh there is no IT worker shortage we
do not need any of these welfare programs that cost us money and
increase the national debt. Besides we are Republicans we do not
invest in America or Americans. Why else do you think we are going to
outsource all government jobs that we can to eliminate benefits and
make some more of our friends more money when they provide the
government temps at the same price to start and then increase the
price shortly after they land the contracts, but of course pay the
American workers less and give them no benefits!!!
I encourage everyone that reads this to email, write their
Reprehensive and tell them we have had enough and we do not want
American Jobs going to Non-Americans. Then Email, write, and tell
everyone you know about how our Government is taking away American
Jobs from Americans. Become active in the Democratic Party, and above
all Vote!!!
Although voting may become a mute point if the rumors are true
that the high level Republicans own the companies making the
electronic vote machines and can rig the elections. I have heard that
there were several Republican elections in which the new machines
where used and the republicans won with the exact number of votes in
different elections? Also, exit polls were not conducted at the sites
were the new electronic voting machines were present!! Thus, the only
proof of the votes would be the software made by the republican owned
companies!!! Makes you wonder if something is going on? How could
several elections throughout the country end up with the wining
candidate having the same exact number of votes as other wining
candidates all are Republicans and all have electronic voting in their
districts?
Even if the voter fraud is true we still need you to take action and
still VOTE!!! If anyone wants to form a group to try and help American
Workers please let me know. You can contact me at spi...@soltec.net
of course the best group is the Democratic Party!!! If any one here
feels that the Republican Party is looking out for the American
workers just go and look at the home page for the GOP and then the
democrats. The Democrat home page talks about how the republican
congress left session and did not care about the 3.8 + million
unemployed Americans and did nothing about extending their benefits.
While the GOP home page talks about how our economy is on track for
growth. I quote
"
Our Nation is on track for sustained economic growth because of the
resiliency and determination of the American people.
"
There is nothing at all about the unemployment benefits ending just
after Xmas on the Republican / GOP Home Page. Why is that you ask?
Well, the Republicans do not care about the workers. If you do not
own a large business or make millions of $$ a year and you do not have
friends and family that work for a living you are doing yourself, your
friends, your family, and your country a disservice when you Vote for
a Republican!! Of course since the represent only the truly rich and
they own all the news media they get to brainwash millions of people
into thinking they are working in their best interest. If so why was
the economy ok the 1st 2 quarters of Bush's administration and then it
started taking a real dive, why is Unemployment still grow at an
alarming rate, Why are all the corporations taking advantage of the
administration and passing laws that allow them to hire foreign
workers and for less money while there friend make money from
providing the foreign help. Why is it the economy was never better
then when we had the Clinton Administration in office? Yes, Clinton
had personal problems, but the country was running great!!!
Answer:
-You were doing good until you said to vote for the Democrats... They're way
worse on immigration, since immigrants give them a lot of their votes!
Please, get a clue.
Yes, I'm an unemployed IT worker. Yes, it bothers me that so much work is
farmed out to other countries and non-residents. That's the thing with a
free society; businesses can do as they please (within the law). It beats
socialism.
-The problem is that American businesses are corporations. Corporations
that are regulated in part by a federal government which has a stake in
promoting NAFTA and other international agreements. Corporations that
have interlocking directorates and cross pollinating consultants that
that have a lot of influence. Corporations that pass money to politicians
who in turn provide law and favors.
In other words, corporations that are dependent on government contracts
or access to certain domestic or foreign markets are de facto agencies
of government.
American government for whatever reasons is working very hard to bring
as many aliens as are available into to the US. Displacing Americans
and giving their jobs to aliens seems to be a high priority by Congress
and the each administration.
