Question:
Dear friends & consultants,
I will appreciate your help in finding places over the INTERNET, which
helps non-immigrants who are qualified; to find suitable jobs in CANADA.
By profession I am a Software Developer.
Answer:
-Thank you very much , I will definitely post my resume on them. I
hope I am not pushing it if I ask for places that you know of where
non-immigrant workers are getting good response. I mean a friend of mine
who is JAVA certified & has more then 6 years of experience
has posted his resume on some of the sites you have provided in the
past but there was no response. It looks like some of these sites
Is becoming black hole of resumes. I will appreciate your
remarks/comments on this issue.
-I would be surprised if there would be such places where "non-immigrant
workers are getting good response", but of course who knows? I don't
know of places where immigrant/Canadian workers are getting good
response either.
I immigrated 6 months ago, I am a software engineer with Master's plus 6
years of experience, my resume is posted on several job-boards, and I've
sent out about 150 to companies here in Ottawa (and some to Toronto,
Calgary, Vancouver). Until now I've got one interview and one phone
interview. Both unsuccessful. So until recently I've been doing
dishwashing for $7/hr at a restaurant (it took me three months to find
at least a crappy job like that), then the place shut down and here I am
again in deep sh.t.
Now, this is my experience, I don't mean to discourage you, but in my
opinion, if you want to get an IT job from abroad (or even as a
Canadian) what you need is very good friends at very good places, lot's
of luck and/or very specific above-average skills.
