Question:
Does anybody out there know any sites besides Monster.com and Hotjobs.com that
actually have up to date job listings?
I've got a job but like Monster says "Never Settle".
Answer:
You know why those online sites haven't worked for you? It's because they
are geared towards the companies and not the employee. Company A pays
(60k-100k...somewhere in that range...can't remember exactly) for access to
say monster.com. In this site, geared for the companies, is a way to parse
(ever wonder why they ask for text resumes with no frilly stuff??) the
resumes looking for key words. In your case endus, and mine as it were,
these words would be java, certified, xml, ejb, coldfusion, bea, corba,
flash, sql, oracle, UML, etc. The more keywords the more specific the hits.
From this search they cut out a lot of people. Cut out more that are H-1b
and not as experienced (my case), and you have the resulting set of people
they actually contact. A girl who works in the HR department of a company
told me this cause she has actually done it.
Staffing agencies are no better because they can only look at companies that
have hired them. This is good and bad because A) you know its local and you
know the company is hiring B) really limits your options unless you work
with a few.
Bascially, like endus said, no is not the time to be looking...cause aint
shit out there to find. Be grateful you got a job that, hopefully, pays more
than just the bills.....those selected bills that is
