The Search is On!

Question:
Well, I'm starting a job search and I've decided that I want to work at home (but I don't want to start my own business). I've been searching online for "telecommuting jobs" and "work at home jobs" and I've found quite a few sites (posted my resume), but none of the sites I've found seem very, well, very good. So, if anyone knows of a good job site that might specialize in "working from home" jobs, please point me in the right direction! I think what I want to do is something to do with writing/editing/research/word processing. At this point I might even accept a data entry job. My ideal job would be proofreading and editing. If I wind up with a good job I can do from home, DH says we can get another computer and put it in the bedroom (the bedroom is nice and cool with a big window and I LOVE it). I'm pretty excited about this whole thing. It's a big decision. My mom says I'd be stupid to quit a government job, but I just don't think I'm cut out to work this closely with others. I work best alone, able to make my own decisions (but not all decisions - which is why I don't want to start my *own* business). As good as my current job is, I'm just not *happy*. To me, that's the most important thing about a job. So, if anyone knows of any sites that might be able to help me out, please pass the link along!

Answer:
I'd be interested in hearing what you find out too. I've often thought about looking into something like this that I could do from home in the evenings to bring in addtitional money. You have to be careful, as I'm sure you are, there's so many schemes out there for this type of work, it's not even funny. Don't ever pay for anything up front, that's a sure sign of a scheme. No company on the level will never ask you to pay them for a job - makes no sense anyway, does it, but people fall for it. Also beware of any place that says you have to take their courses to learn how to do data entry, etc., before you work for them - antoher sure sign of a scam. Your local newspaper is a far better source for a reputable work from home job than anything on a website too, and even then, you have to be careful.
